Hello and welcome to the web site of the Rotary Club of Deloraine.

We are an active and enthusiastic club that is brimming with ideas.

The club has been running the iconic Tasmanian Craft Fair in early November since 1980 – with over 240 stalls, art displays, fine food and entertainment.  It attracts 30,000 visitors over four days and is the largest of its type in Australia.

It requires a lot of careful planning and energy, but the end result has been a fantastic fund raiser for the club and a sizeable boost to the District every year.

With the funds raised from the Fair, the club has been able to make a significant mark on the community, including developing the river to the beautiful attraction it now is (including two pedestrian bridges), funding the local Enterprise Centre, significant donations to the local hospital and aged care facilities, helping start a school for autistic children, providing tertiary and trade scholarships and running an annual Model United Nations Assembly involving over 40 secondary schools Statewide.  The club also runs the Rotary-Pratt Foundation, a non-profit organisation which provides funding to assist the senior citizens of the District.

But aside from the “service side” of Rotary, our regular meetings provide good fun and food as well as excellent speakers.  Our “fellowship” activities include trips to the theatre and cinema, golfing days and BBQs.

If you want to be involved in the community, to assist people of all ages in the Meander Valley District, Tasmania and overseas, to meet like-minded people AND have a good time, I invite you to contact either myself on 0418 131 218 or the Secretary, Roy Axelsen on 03 6362 2865 or 0418 326 792 to find out more.

Yours in Rotary,

Andrew Johnston
